According to the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) 87 new cases of Coronavirus was confirmed in the country across 9 states on Saturday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,182 as at 11:55pm on 25th April.
Out of the 87 new cases, 33 were in Lagos, 18 in Borno, 12 in Osun, 9 in Katsina, 4 in kano and Ekiti respectively, 3 in Edo and Bauchi respectively and 1 in Imo state. The case in Imo is the first confirmed case in the state.
222 persons out of the 1,182 cases have recovered while 35 persons have died of the virus.
On the other news the WHO warned that there is no evidence to suggest that a person is immune to Coronavirus if he has already had it. Earlier in the week, the head of WHO Dr. Tedros Adhanom highlighted the increasing cases in Africa, Eastern Europe, Central America and South America.
He said that the Coronavirus outbreak seems to be stabilizing or declining in Western Europe however it appeared to be starting in many countries.
On Saturday, UK became the 5th country in world to report over 20,000 deaths from Coronavirus. The death tolls in Italy, Spain, France and UK are 26,384, 22,902, 22,614 and 20,319 respectively. The U.S remains the worst affected country with 933,933 confirmed cases and 53,449 deaths.
China, where the Coronavirus outbreak began reported no deaths for the tenth consecutive day while South Korea had its second day without a Coronavirus related death on Saturday.
As at 22:57 GMT on Saturday the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases worldwide stood at 2,881,546 with 202,098 deaths according to John Hopkins Corona Virus Resource Center.
