The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the start of its recruitment exercise, emphasizing that the process is free and fair. The NCS has advised Nigerians to be cautious of scammers who may try to take advantage of unsuspecting individuals. The NCS is inviting applications for various positions within the Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant cadres.
This recruitment comes after the Service received approval to hire 3,927 officers in 2025, aiming to strengthen trade facilitation and support Nigeria’s economic recovery efforts.
The NCS highlighted the importance of being vigilant against fraudulent activities during the recruitment process. “Our recruitment is entirely free and fair. At no stage do we charge fees. Anyone requesting payment is a scammer,” the agency warned. The eligibility criteria for applicants are as follows: – Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
They must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). – They must have no criminal record or ongoing investigations. Qualifications vary for the three cadres:
Superintendent Cadre: Applicants must have a university degree or a Higher National Diploma (HND), along with an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Inspectorate Cadre: Applicants must have a National Diploma (ND) or a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from an accredited institution.
Customs Assistant Cadre: Applicants must possess at least an O’Level certificate (WAEC or NECO). Additionally, all applicants must be physically and mentally fit and must provide evidence of medical fitness from a recognized government hospital.
The application process will open on 27 December 2024 and close on 2 January 2025. Interested candidates can submit their applications via the official recruitment portal at: https://recruitment.customs.gov.ng.
