Dangote Refinery is set to launch its free fuel distribution on Monday 15 September 2025, covering Lagos, the South-West region, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo states.
Anthony Chiejina, spokesperson for the Dangote Group, confirm to The Punch that the initiative aims to provide relief to millions of Nigerians by offering fuel at reduced prices.
“We are starting the Free Fuel Distribution scheme on Monday, beginning with Lagos and the South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo states. Prices will drop as the distribution begins,” he stated.
As part of this initiative, the refinery will reduce petrol pump prices to N841 per litre in Lagos and the South-West, and to N851 per litre in Abuja, Kwara, Edo, Rivers, and Delta states.
These new prices will take effect on Monday, coinciding with the start of the free fuel distribution.
The program was originally planned for August but faced delays due to shipping and logistics issues.
However, the refinery has now received over 1,000 trucks for fuel distribution in the mentioned states.
The company indicated that more states will be added to the scheme as additional trucks arrive in Nigeria.
To enhance its logistics capacity and reduce distribution costs, Dangote Group is also rolling out 10,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks throughout Nigeria, despite recent increases in CNG prices.
Chiejina further stated, “Even though we recently observed that CNG prices doubled a week ago, that will not deter our plan for the 10,000 CNG truck roll-out this year.”
