The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has appointed Mr. Suleiman Danlami Kum as the new Head of its Nigeria National Office (HNO).
Kum takes over from Dr. Amos Dangut, whose three-year tenure as HNO ended on October 1, 2026.
Dangut has since assumed office as the council’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment is confirmed in a statement on Sunday by Moyosola Adesina, WAEC Nigeria’s Head of Public Affairs.
Kum joined WAEC in July 1998 as an Assistant Registrar II and has nearly three decades of experience in the council. His past roles include Head of Exams Security in Awka, Yola and Makurdi, Branch Controller in Gusau and Kano,
He has been linked to innovations at WAEC, including turning the Gusau office into a Custodial Centre, adding security features to examination printing, deploying facial-recognition biometric attendance, and delivering Achievement Tests through computer-based examinations.
WAEC described him as experienced in test development, examination administration, examination security, and branch and zonal office management.
He holds a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production from the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
Kum hails from Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
