Jadon Sancho finally scored his first goal for Manchester United, firing a shot into the roof of the net in the 90th minute.
This is Michael Carrick’s first game as caretaker manager following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 78th minute, to set Manchester United on the path to Champions League last 16. C. Ronaldo maintains his record of scoring in every game in this season’s competition when he lifted the ball over the keeper.

Jadon Sancho sealed the victory in injury-time in a swift counter attacking move; Rashford cut back to Bruno Fernandes, a one touch lay off to Sancho by B. Fernandes who then blasted a shot that went in off the underside of the crossbar.
It may have well been a different story before the substitutions that saw B. Fernandes come in for Donny van de Beek and Marcus Rashford for Antony Martial, without the heroics of goalkeeper David de Gea.
David de Gea produced two superb one-handed saves, one in each half, to keep out well-struck efforts from Manu Trigueros when it was goalless.
The result delighted United’s travelling fans, with Carrick hugging his players at the final whistle as some of the gloom over the club lifted.
