A man from the U.S. has been arrested after allegedly stating that President Donald Trump “needs to be assassinated” and posting videos on TikTok while holding a rifle, according to authorities.
Douglas Thrams, 23, shared multiple videos on TikTok between Monday, the day of Trump’s inauguration, and Wednesday, in which he threatened anti-government violence, as outlined in a criminal complaint released Thursday.
In one of the videos, Thrams is quoted saying, “Every U.S. government building needs to be bombed immediately.” Referring specifically to Trump, he said, using an expletive, “He needs to be assassinated, and this time, don’t… miss.” Last year, Trump was the target of two assassination attempts, including one at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was injured in the ear.
In another video, Thrams was seen holding a rifle and tapping it, according to an affidavit from an FBI agent. Thrams, who is from Indiana, was arrested on Thursday and charged with making “interstate communications with a threat to injure.”
