National Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has agreed to commence negotiations on the workers’ salary increment.
This is according to a Wednesday statement signed by the company secretary, Bello A. Abdullahi.
Recall that several international and flights across local and international airports were grounded Monday morning as the workers NAHCO embarked on a strike over salary increment.
NAHCO said that it was agreed with the aggrieved workers that negotiations will commence on Wednesday, January 25th and conclude by Saturday, January 28th, 2023.
According to the statement, the agreement with the workers was reached during a Monday afternoon meeting of the company’s management, the Unions, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders including the Federal Airport Authority (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Department of State Security (DSS) at NAHCO Plc Head Office, Lagos.
According to the statement, the resolutions agreed upon and signed by all parties included the following:
- The discontinuance of the suit filed against the NUATE and ATTSSSAN unions at the National Industrial Court.
- Issuance of a counteroffer to the Union’s demands by the NAHCO Plc Management before close of business of Monday, January 23, 2023.
- Commencement of negotiations on salary increment on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 and conclusion by Saturday, January 28th, 2023.
- The immediate resumption of all staff to work.
- Non-victimization of staff due to participation in the strike action.
It added that the strike action was action was called off by the Unions
and staff at about 1500hrs on Monday, January 23, 2023, and work resumed accordingly.
“Consequently, the Company wishes to state that the Industrial action which lasted for only few hours did not have any major impact on the business of the Company. The Company also wishes to assure the shareholders and the general public of the Company’s commitment to the continuous provision of aviation services.”
