The federal government has engaged four prominent Nigerian social influencers—2Face Idibia, Ola of Lagos, Rarara, and Basket Mouth—to explore the potential of compressed natural gas (CNG) and its transition as an energy source in Nigeria.
They will embark on a fact-finding trip to India, organized by the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), to study India’s successful integration of CNG. Otega Ogra, senior special assistant to President Bola Tinubu, confirmed the trip’s purpose: to provide Nigerians with insights into CNG and encourage informed discussions about energy.
The initiative aims to promote transparency and engage the public through influential personalities. The trip will include visits to various CNG facilities in India, such as conversion centers and refueling stations, showcasing how CNG can be effectively utilized in everyday life. Subair, vice-chairman of PCNGI, praised the influencers for their role in informing the public and building confidence in the energy transition.
The influencers will document their experiences and share them with their followers, supported by two Nigerian companies in the CNG sectorz Femadec Energy and Rolling Energy and a representative from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
