170 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by NCDC on Sunday across 11 states and FCT as follows; 39-Lagos, 29-Kano, 24-Ogun, 18-Bauchi, 15-Kaduna, 12-FCT, 12-Sokoto, 8-Katsina, 7-Borno, 3-Nasarawa, 2-Adamawa, and 1-Oyo. Nigeria has a total of 2,558 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 400 recoveries and 87 deaths as at 12:00am (Nigerian Time), 3 May 2020
Nigeria has tested a total 17,566 samples for Covid-19 as at 22:42 GMT on Sunday according to the data on NCDC website.

In Tanzania, President John Magufuli said that the 480 confirmed cases in the country may be exaggerated as he doubts the credibility of the country’s national laboratory. Papaya, quail and goat samples returned positive from the Lab, there is possibility for technical errors or these imported reagents have issues the President said. Tanzania has reported 480 confirmed cases of C0vid-19 with 16 deaths and 167 recoveries.
Africa has a total of 43,029 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 1,761 deaths and 14,343 recoveries across the continent according to African Center for Disease control as at 22:44 GMT on Sunday.
South Africa remains the worst affected country in Africa, with 6,783 confirmed cases, 131 deaths and 2,549 recoveries according to John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.
In UK, 76,496 Coronavirus tests were conducted on Saturday across the country according to Micheal Gove, Cabinet Office Minister. This number is short of the government’s target of 100,000 tests per day. Hopital admission in the country has dropped by about 2,000 according to Gove.
He added that the government has pledged additional £1.6 billion to councils across England to support their “essential frontline services” including adult social care. UK has reported 187,840 cases and 28,446 deaths from Coronavirus.
Spain reported 164 deaths from Coronavirus, the lowest number since 18th March. It has total of 216,582 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 117,248 recoveries and 25,100 deaths.
Russia reported its highest daily toll of confirmed Coronavirus cases, with 10,633 new cases. About 40,000 Covid-19 tests were conducted in Moscow on Saturday. The situation in Russia seems to be getting worse as the number of new cases keeps increasing. Russia has recorded total of 134,687 cases, 16,639 recoveries and 1,280 deaths.
Churches in Germany opened for the first time on Sunday since the lock down began in April. Germany has seen a drop in the number new cases in the country. It has a total of 165,565 confirmed cases, 130,600 recoveries and 6,203 deaths.
The health ministry of Afghanistan raised an alarm about the spread of the virus in the country after a random in Kabul showed that about one third the people in the capital might be infected with Coronavirus. The country has confirmed 2,704 cases of Coronavirus and 85 deaths. The number of those who have recovered is not available.
In Iran, the worst affected country in the Middle East, Mosques which were closed since mid-March are due to open on Monday in some cities. In Iran there are 97,424 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 6,203 deaths and 78,422 recoveries. However, there are reports that the actual number of cases and deaths would be higher.
In the U.S, lawmakers have declined the 1,000 rapid Coronavirus test offer, made by President Trump. The House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell Senate Majority Leader, said on Saturday that they were grateful for the offer. However, “Congress wants to keep directing resources to the frontline facilities where they can do the most good the most quickly” both said in a joint statement.
In a tweet, President Trump said the offer rejection is political. U.S has conducted over 7 million tests for Covid-19 according to John Hopkins Tally. The senate is due to resume session on Monday, but the house is still in recess. U.S remains the worst affected country globally with 1,154,621 confirmed cases, 67454 deaths and 175,382 recoveries.
