Former governor of Enugu State and the Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial Zone has lost reelection bid to Kevin Chukwu of Labour Party.
The election was moved from February 25 to March 18th after the death of the former LP flagbearer Oyibo Chukwu. Oyibo Chukwu was killed at Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area on the night of 22nd February, 2023, a few days before the presidential and National Assembly elections.
Oyibo Chukwu’s younger brother, Kevin Chukwu then replaced him for the senatorial contest.
Kevin polled 69,136 votes to defeat Chimaroke, a former governor of the state who scored 48,701 votes.
