Abia state governor Alex Otti has sworn in 17 new Transition Council Chairmen/Mayors and their deputies “selected by the stakeholders.”
Otti disclosed this in an X post (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
He said, “Today, I had the honour of swearing in 17 new Transition Council Chairmen/Mayors and their deputies to serve as the vanguards of the New Abia in the 17 LGAs. I congratulated them for being selected by the stakeholders and I urge them to work diligently for the development and welfare of their communities.”
“I also appreciated the State House of Assembly, the Labour Party leaders and all the people of Abia for their support and cooperation in this process. I assured them that we were working together to build a better society where the riches of the land are deployed in honest service to the present and future generations.
“I reminded the new mayors and their deputies that this was a call to serve and not to be served. They must align their programmes with the general development philosophy of the present administration in the state. Our priority at all times must be the security and welfare of our people.
“We are currently working with an amalgamation of critical stakeholders to guarantee the safety of life and property in all parts of the state. We have also embarked on several infrastructural projects to improve the quality of life of our people. We are expanding the frontiers of development in Abia and we need everyone’s collaboration and participation to achieve our vision.
“God bless Abia State and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
