Chelsea is set to sack Frank Lampard and replace him with the former Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by PSG on 24 December after two-and-a-half seasons in charge.
The decision comes after Chelsea beat Luton 3-1 in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, however the winning was not enough to save Lampard’s job with qualification for the Champions League a key priority.
Lampard a former Chelsea player, was appointed as manager in July 2019 and spent more than £200m last summer on Havertz, Werner, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva.

“Frank Lampard is set to be sacked as head coach by Chelsea with former Borussia Dortmund and PSG boss Thomas Tuchel replacing him, it will be confirmed later today.” Sky Sports wrote in tweet.
Chelsea is ninth in the league table, five points behind fourth-placed Liverpool. Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester on Tuesday evening means they have won just two of their last eight Premier League games under Lampard, who replaced Maurizio Sarri as the manager at the start of the 2019-20 season.
Defeats by Arsenal on Boxing Day and Manchester City on 3 January led to serious doubts over Lampard’s future.
Meanwhile, Tuchel, won the league twice while in PSG and took the team to the 2020 Champions League final, where they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich. He was the Manager of Borussia Dortmund for two seasons, and he won German Cup in 2017 three days before being sacked after falling out with the board.
