The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened applications for temporary staff for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
The INEC Portal for Recruitment of Election Staff (INECPRES) opened at 8am on Friday, September 18, 2026, and closes at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
The commission plans to recruit about 1.4 million ad hoc personnel for more than 176,000 polling units nationwide. The Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections for February 6, 2027.

– Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)
– Presiding Officers (POs)
– Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs I, II and III)
– Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers
– Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) staff
Who can apply
Eligible groups include civil servants, serving and former NYSC members, tertiary students, MDA staff, heads of schools hosting RACs, ICT personnel and qualified IT students.
Applicants must not belong to a political party or have shown support for any candidate or party, and, except for RATECHs, must live in the state they select.
What to prepare
INEC advises applicants to have a working email address and phone number, a personal bank account, a recent passport photograph, a valid means of identification, and qualification documents.
Staff or student ID and NYSC call-up details are needed where they apply.
