Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc (NGX: SOVRENINS) has announced the appointment of Mr. Abimbola Oguntunde as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors.
The appointment, which was made during the company’s 131st Board of Directors meeting held on Friday, June 13, 2025, took immediate effect.
This was disclosed by the company in a regulatory filing on Friday.
Prior to his appointment, Oguntunde served as a Non-Executive Director with Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc.
According to the publication, he has over 30 years experience in the banking industry, management consulting, and the international public sector.
Currently, he is the Managing Partner of Devtage Consulting and the CEO of Devtage Group, a company specializing in Global Management Consulting, Technology, and Corporate Training and Development.
Throughout his career, Mr. Oguntunde has held top management positions at leading financial institutions such as UBA, Sterling Bank, and Access Bank Plc.. He has also contributed to Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc. in critical areas like capital raising, business transformation, and reorganization.
Academically, Mr. Oguntunde holds a First Class Honours degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Lagos.
He also holds an MBA in International Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The share price of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc gained 5.50% on Friday to close at N1.15 per share. YTD it is down by 6.5%.
