President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of military personnel during the inauguration of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in Abuja.
Speaking at the ceremony, he praised the Nigerian Armed Forces as heroes for their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation. Tinubu emphasized the importance of supporting military personnel, stating, “The only way to show appreciation is to continue supporting the men and women in uniform.”
He highlighted that adequate support and welfare provisions are essential for maintaining morale and ensuring operational success. The newly constructed barracks address the housing shortage faced by military personnel in Abuja and include various accommodations for different ranks, along with amenities such as worship centers and sports facilities.
This project, initiated by the late Chief of Army Staff Taoreed Lagbaja, was completed under the current Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede. The inauguration was attended by dignitaries, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of Defence Badaru Abubakar.
Earlier, Tinubu also performed a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Armed Forces Complex in Asokoro, which will further enhance operational efficiency. The inauguration of the barracks marks a significant step in addressing the welfare challenges of Nigerian military personnel and reinforces the government’s support for the Armed Forces.
