Investors in the Nigerian Exchange Equities market began the new week with a ₦404 billion gain, as the market advance continues.

Benchmark All-Share Index (NGX ASI) of the Nigerian Exchange’s equities market advanced by 0.70% on Monday to close trading at 102,044.84 points.
Year to date gains improved to 36.47%, with investor’s wealth growing by ₦16.78 trillion
The market capitalization appreciated by 0.70% on Monday, adding ₦404 billion to Investors’ wealth.
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc (NGX: HONYFLOUR) emerged as the top gainer, advancing by 10%. Prestige Assurance Plc (NGX: PRESTIGE) was the biggest loser, with it’s share price shading 10%.
Activity Level
The activity level was mixed on Monday with the volume of shares traded increasing while the value of shares traded decreased.
While the volume of shares traded increased by 21.98%, the value of shares traded decreased by 13.98% and no of deals done increased by 5.17%.
At the end of trading, 436.89 million shares valued at ₦17.09 billion had exchanged hands in 11,344 deals.
Shares of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (NGX: GTCO), Transnational Corporation Plc (NGX: TRANSCORP) and Access Holdings Plc (NGX: ACCESSCORP) were the most traded stocks by volume with 96.63 million, 73.86 million and 48.08 million shares respectively.
Shares of Transcorp Power Plc (NGX: TRANSPOWER), Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (NGX: GTCO), and Transnational Corporation Plc (NGX: TRANSCORP) were the most traded by value, with their shares worth ₦5.92 billion, ₦4.02 billion and ₦1.23 billion respectively exchanging hands.
Top gainers and losers
In the day’s trading session, 20 stocks advanced against 28 decliners.
The top five gainers were;
- Honeywell Flour Mills Plc (NGX: HONYFLOUR): It gained 10% to close at ₦3.74.
- Nem Insurance Plc (NGX: NEM): It gained 10% to close at ₦6.05
- Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc (NGX: DANGSUGAR): It gained 9.97% to close at ₦61.20.
- NASCON Allied Industries Plc (NGX: NASCON): It gained 9.92% to close at ₦57.60.
- Wema Bank Plc (NGX: WEMABANK): It gained 9.79% to close at ₦7.85.
The top five losers were;
- Prestige Assurance Plc (NGX: PRESTIGE): It lost 10.00% to close at ₦0.54.
- Lasaco Assurance Plc (NGX: LASACO): It lost 9.93% to close at ₦7.80.
- UAC of Nigeria Plc (NGX: UACN): It lost 9.68% to close at ₦12.60.
- RT Briscoe Plc (NGX: RTBRISCOE): It lost 8.16% to close at ₦0.45.
- International Energy Insurance Plc (NGX: INTENEGINS): It lost 9.76% to close at ₦1.85.
All but one of the five indices under our watch advanced on Monday.
- Banking Index: The index gained 2.00% to close at 876.48 points (YTD: -2.31%).
- Industrial Index: The industrial index gained 0.11% to close at 4,798.74 points (YTD: +76.93%).
- Consumer Goods Index: The index gained 1.09% to 1,627.29 points (YTD: +45.13%).
- Oil & Gas Index: It lost 0.23% to close at 1,288.92 points (YTD: +23.57%).
- Insurance Index: The index gained 0.1.48% to close at 35752 points (YTD: +111.15%).
