Airtel Africa plc has announced the repurchase of 798,919 ordinary shares during the week of 14–18 September 2026, marking the latest step in the telecoms and mobile money group’s ongoing share buyback programme.
The shares, each with a nominal value of USD 0.50, were purchased from Barclays Capital Securities Limited on 18 September 2026.
Prices ranged from 318.80 pence to 326.80 pence per share, with a volume-weighted average price of 322.59 pence.
All the purchased shares will be cancelled, reducing the company’s total share count.
Trading took place across five venues. The London Stock Exchange accounted for the largest share of the volume, with 388,000 shares traded at a volume-weighted average price of 322.84 pence.
The remaining volume was executed on BATS Europe (239,762 shares at 321.74p), CHI-X Europe (106,022 shares at 323.44p), Aquis Exchange (48,046 shares at 322.64p) and Turquoise (17,089 shares at 323.28p).
Since the buyback programme was first announced, the authority granted by shareholders. Since then, Airtel Africa has repurchased a cumulative 19,907,874 ordinary shares at a volume-weighted average price of 336.05 pence per share.
Airtel Africa provides telecommunications and mobile money services across 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, offering integrated mobile voice, data and money transfer services.
