The Debt Management Office (DMO), acting on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), has announced the opening of its latest offer for the Federal Government of Nigeria Savings Bond (FGN Savings Bond).
The Offer for Subscription commenced on Monday, November 3, 2025, and is scheduled to close on Friday, November 7, 2025, according to a circular issued by the DMO.
The DMO is offering two different tenors to the investing public as follows
- 2-Year FGN Savings Bond due November 12, 2027, is offered at an interest rate of 13.565% per annum.
- 3-Year FGN Savings Bond due November 12, 2028, is offered at a higher rate of 14.565% per annum.
The minimum subscription is set at N5,000, with additional units available in multiples of N1,000, subject to a maximum subscription of N50,000,000.
Interest payment is payable quarterly, scheduled for February 12, May 12, August 12, and November 12, with bullet repayment of the principal on the respective maturity date.
The Settlement Date for the current offer is November 12, 2025.
The FGN Savings Bond is backed by the “full faith and credit of the Federal Government of Nigeria” and is charged upon the general assets of Nigeria, providing a high level of security. Furthermore, the bonds carry several statutory benefits, including:
- Qualifying as securities in which trustees can invest under the Trustee Investment Act.
- Qualifying as Government securities for Tax Exemption for Pension Funds, under the Company Income Tax Act (“CITA”) and Personal Income Tax Act (“PITA”), amongst other investors.
- Being listed on The Nigerian Exchange Limited.
- Qualifying as a liquid asset for liquidity ratio calculation for banks.
