The Rivers State Executive Council has approved a budget proposal of N800bn tagged “budget of renewed hope, consolidation and continuity” for the 2024 fiscal year.

Joe Johnson, the Commissioner for Information who briefed the media after the council meeting alongside the Secretary to the State Government, said the proposal was debated together with the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, as presented by the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu.
Infrastructure, education, health and security were listed at the areas with the highest budgetary votes by the Commissioner.
The Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, on his part, said the budget proposal, as the title implies is aimed at giving a new hope to the people and consolidate on the gains of the state, especially in infrastructure and human capital development.
He went further to say that the details of the projection were thoroughly discussed before arriving at the estimate.
