The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned Nigerians to be wary of fake news, particular the fake news making social media rounds, saying that CBN plans to shut down financial transaction from Thursday 23 of February till 27th of February.

The Apex bank issued the plea on it’s verified Twitter handle, with a screenshot of the message that has since gone viral.

This is coming barely a day after the apex bank put out another plea to be wary of fake news, over the purported re-release of the old N500 notes, that has since ceased to be legal tender in the country.
The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari was reported to have shared the fake news about re-release of the old N500 notes on her social media handle.
