The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has gifted each player in the team that defeated Argentina at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar a Rolls Royce Phantom.
Argentina came into the tournament ranked No. 3 in the FIFA rankings and were favorites to potentially win the tournament in what is seen as Messi’s final World Cup run. It is the first time they have lost an opener since 1990.
According to Action Network, Saudi Arabia were +2300 underdogs, while Argentina floated at around -900 as the heavy favorite.
A national holiday had also been declared a day after the team achieved the biggest upset in World Cup history with Victory over Lionel Messi captained Argentina.
A 2023 Rolls Royce Phantom’s list price begins at nearly $460,000, according to Car and Driver.
Saudi Arabia are currently top of Group C, being the only team in the group to have won so far in the tournament with Mexico and Poland playing out goalless draws, leaving two-time winners Argentina bottom of the group.
The Saudis will next face Poland on Saturday at 8 a.m. ET.
