The Supreme Court of Nigeria has set October 5th, 2023 as the day it will hear all appeals on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s cases before it.
The date was confirmed by Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, one of the counsels to the erstwhile leader of the Indigenous People of Nigeria (IPOB) in a post on is X (formerly Twitter) page.
IPOB had on November 3, 2022 through Kanu’s lawyers filled an appeal to the Supreme Court over the Court Appeal’s judgement on October 28, 2022 which stopped the release of Kanu, staying the execution of its earlier judgement which acquitted Kanu of all charges and directing the Department of State Services (DSS) to release him.
The apex court earlier in the year adjourned the hearing to September 14, 2023, but this date fell within the Court’s annual vacation period.
The Supreme Court of Nigeria formally resume the new Legal Year today, the 18th day of September 2023, according to reports citing the Apex Court’s desk.
