The manager of a hotel located in the Dopemu area of Lagos has been detained by the police following the death of a woman who allegedly visited the facility with an unidentified man.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Sunday.
He said, the Dopemu Police Division received a report from the hotel manager at about 10:10 p.m. on Friday concerning the incident.
Accordding to Hundeyin, an unidentified man entered the hotel with a woman, requesting a short stay at approximately 9:30pm same day.
The police spokesperson added that the hotel manager failed to note the identities of both the man and the woman. He said the incident is being investigated by the police.
“The manager reported that after an hour, the woman rushed out, claiming she felt hot, and he provided her with cold water to drink.
“The manager said the woman still did not feel better and was later taken to a hospital on Dopemu Road, where she subsequently passed away, while the man who brought her to the hotel fled.
“Meanwhile, the hotel manager is in detention to assist with the investigation. The corpse has been deposited at Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy,” he said.
