Former manager of comic actor John Okafor, also referred to as Mr. Ibu, Emeka Chochoo, has revealed the reason behind the police invitations to the actor’s adopted daughter Jasmine and two of his kids, Daniel and Val.
Following weeks of social media teasing regarding the signatory to the actor’s account, word broke on Wednesday night that Stella Maris, Mr. Ibu’s wife, had ordered their arrests.
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who broke the news of the arrest on Instagram, said that both Jasmine and the actor’s sons were detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos over alleged transfer N300 million from the actor’s treatment fund.
She however, noted that investigation revealed that the money in the account was not up to the said amount
“Jasmine and Ibu’s sons were arrested at Alagbon Police Station. They are detained there. Ibu’s wife alleged that Jasmine moved N300 million out of the account. Ibu’s wife allegedly wanted them to buy her new house from the money contributed so far for Ibu’s treatments. That’s why she arrested Jasmine. But investigation states that the money contributed isn’t even up to N300 million,” she wrote.
The police invite over the actor’s account was also confirmed by Chochoo.
He said, ‘Yes, they were all invited by the police. I won’t call it arrest; the police invited them over Mr Ibu’s account. However, Val is left out as he knows nothing about what’s been happening. He just returned to the country. “I have not been able to reach any of them,” Chochoo said
Mr Ibu recently sought help from the public following a medical crisis. After undergoing several surgeries, the actor was found to be recuperating gradually. He also recently had one of his legs amputated.
