The two neigbours met in a major final for the first time as they squared off at Wembley stadium.
Ilkay Gundogan set a new FA Cup final record when he scored after just 12 seconds against Manchester United.
City captain Gundogan thumped an unstoppable volley past David De Gea after Erling Haaland flicked on a goal kick.
The previous fastest goal in a final was by Louis Saha for Everton in the 2009 final against Chelsea. That was 25 seconds.
Bruno Fernandes equalized for Man Utd from the penalty spot after a VAR involved decision awarded a handball against Jack Grealish in his own box.
Gundogan restored City’s lead early in the second half as he volleyed home what proved to be the winner from the edge of the box.
With the FA Cup and the Premier League trophies now securely sitting at the Etihad stadium, City is coasting at full speed to match Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United Achievement set in 1999, the treble winning year.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s team had in 1999 won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in a incredible year that got him knighted by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
