In the 98th minute, the referee blew the final whistle to confirm Manchester City FC as Champions of the 2022/2023 Premier League season and Nottingham Forest F.C’s premier league status as Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal 1-0 at home.
A 19th minute goal by Taiwo Awoniyi snuffed out the fading title hopes of Arsenal FC, and won Nottingham Forest another season in the top flight.

The win takes Forest’s tally to 37 points from 37 games. They are now 6 points clear of Leicester City in 19th with 30 points from 36 games, and 4 points clear of Everton in 17th with 33 points from 37 games.
No matter the outcome of Leicester’s two matches or Everton and Forest’s last match, neither of the two teams can overtake Nottingham Forest. Nottingham survive the first season back in the Premier League.
At the top of the table, the defeat leaves Arsenal 4 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City, having played 37 games.
Manchester City will be crowned Champions on Sunday in their home Game against Chelsea FC. This is City’s third successive title, becoming only the second club to win three successive titles since the Premier League began, after Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United between 2007 and 2010.
Reacting to their title win, Manchester City twitted “22/23 PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.”

Pep Guardiola’s side have won the title in five of the past six campaigns.
They also have a chance to claim the Treble, with the FA Cup and Champions League finals to come next month.
They are squarely on course to match another Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United Achievement set in 1999, the treble winning year. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in a incredible year that got him knighted by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
City face Inter Milan in the Champions final on 10 June, before that they take on United in the FA Cup final on 3 June.
