Ellah Lakes Plc has issued a public disclaimer asserting its ownership of approximately 2,383.57 hectares of land in Iguelaba, Edo State, and warning that anyone engaging with a named investment firm and an individual regarding the property does so at their own risk, as legal proceedings between the parties continue.
In a notice on NGX, the company stated that it holds a valid Certificate of Occupancy issued by the Edo State Government for the land, which it refers to as the “ELP Property”.
It also stated that Median Agro Investment Limited and an individual identified as Olumide Kayode Akinsanya are currently involved in litigation brought by Ellah Lakes over allegations including trespass, encroachment, assault, and false imprisonment, with the company seeking substantial damages.
The disclaimer notes that Ellah Lakes will not recognise any transaction, agreement, occupation, development, construction, financing, sale, or lease related to the property carried out by or through the two parties, their agents, or associates.
It further warns that any contractor, financier, or collaborator found to have knowingly supported unlawful dealings on the land would face civil and criminal liabilities under Nigerian law.
This notice comes as Ellah Lakes advances with an aggressive land-bank expansion strategy.
Ellah Lakes states that it controls more than 30,000 hectares across Edo, Enugu, Ekiti, and Ondo states, including its Iguelaba site in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Edo State.
The company is also in the process of a ₦235 billion capital raise, approved by shareholders in 2025, to fund plantation expansion and increase processing capacity, including a recently commissioned crude palm oil mill.
Ellah Lakes explained that the disclaimer was issued to protect its proprietary interest in the Iguelaba asset and to prevent members of the public, investors, and financial institutions from being drawn into transactions that might expose them to legal and financial risks.
