Gunmen on Wednesday attacked a security patrol near the Nkwo Market at Umunze in Orumba South Local Government of Anambra State, killing soldiers and civilians.
Investogist gathered that the attacked security officers were on patrol when the incident happened.
An eyewitness told The Punch that five soldiers and two civilians were killed in the incident.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident did not disclose the number of casualties.
Ikenga, said there were shootings close to a new generation bank in Umunze.
He said that the incident happened between 12-1.30pm but the details had not been received.
Security operatives have been deployed by the command to secure the area, according to Ikenga.
