Dangote Refinery, Waltersmith and other refineries in Nigeria require 483,000 barrels of crude oil per day to operate in 2024.
A newly published Domestic Crude Supply Obligation guidelines from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) showed that 8 refineries with a name plate crude requirement of 864,500 barrels per day has a forecasted daily crude requirement of 483,000 barrels.

The refineries listed are;
- Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (650,000 bpd capacity) in Lagos State
- OPAC Refineries (10,000 bpd capacity) in Delta State
- Waltersmith Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (5,000 bpd capacity) in Imo State
- Duport Midstream (1,000 bpd capacity) in Edo State
- Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company (1,000 bpd capacity) Limited in Edo State
- Niger Delta Petroleum Refinery (Aradel) (11,000 bpd capacity) in Rivers State
- Port Harcourt Refinery Company (Old) (60,000 bpd capacity) in Rivers State
- Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company (125,000 bpd capacity) in Delta State
Business Day reported that Nigerian oil producers will be required to supply the crude oil to the refineries.
Dangote Refinery is forecasted to receive 325,000 barrels per day, while the old Port Harcourt refinery is to receive 54,000 barrels per day for the next six months.
The refineries with a combined capacity of 864,500 barrels per day are expected to be operational from 2024.
