The Supreme Court of Nigeria has on Friday affirmed Peter Mbah as the governor of Enugu State.

A five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba held that the Labour Party and its candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, failed to prove the allegations of substantial non-compliance with the electoral law.
The apex court also dismissed the allegation of NYSC certificate forgery, one of the basis for which the Labour Party governorship candidate wanted the court to disqualify Governor Peter Mbah.
Reacting to the judgement, Peter Mbah expressed “gratitude to the learned justices for keeping the wheel of justice rolling.”
Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with 160,895 votes.
According to INEC, E Barr Chijioke Edeoga of the LP came second with 157,552 votes, while Frank Nweke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 17,983 votes to claim third place.
On November 10, an appellate court sitting in Lagos, had affirmed the election of Barr Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor of Enugu State.
The three-man panel of the appellate court led by Justice Tani Yusuf Hassan affirmed the judgment of Enugu Tribunal delivered on September 9, 2023, by the Hon. Justice K.M. Akano led tribunal.
