The Federal Government of Nigeria says it has recovered 41.3 million litres of crude oil, 19.64 million litres of diesel among others from “oil thieves” between April to August 2022.
This was disclosed by the Nigeria’s Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo while speaking on the successes recorded so far by OPERATION DAKATAR DA BARAWO, the anti-oil-theft operation launched in collaboration with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on April 1, 2022.
The FG also listed the recovered products, number of arrested suspects, and deactivated sites in series of Tweets on its official Twitter handle.
100 suspects and 12 vessels were arrested within the period, according to the FG
216 illegal refining sites and 216 storage facilities were deactivated with 272 wooden boats destroyed.
Other petroleum products seized during the operation include 478,500 litres of kerosene and124,265 litres of petrol.
