The Nigerian Exchange ended the last week of May 2025 on a positivenote as the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 2.49%, to close at 111,742.01, while the market capitalization grew to ₦70.463 trillion.
During the week, a total of 3.794 billion shares valued at ₦119.394 billion were traded in 89,636 deals.
This shows a marginal decrease in volume from 3.932 billion shares last week but a significant increase in value compared to the previous week (₦74.813 billion).
On the sector performance, the Financial Services sector dominated the chart with 2.744 billion shares worth ₦79.805 billion, accounting for over 72% of total market volume. This was followed by the Consumer Goods and Services sectors.
Top Three Most Traded Equities by Volume were United Bank for Africa Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc and Access Holdings Plc. These three accounted for 51.19% of the total traded volume and 51.54% of the total value.
Most indices including NGX Main Board (+3.81%), NGX Consumer Goods Index: (+3.78%), NGX Lotus II Index: +5.89 and NGX MERI Growth Index: +2.82% closed the week on a positive note.
However, some indices declined, including NGX Oil & Gas Index: (-2.05%), NGX MERI Value Index: (-0.64%), and NGX Growth Index: (-0.38%)

- University Press Plc gained 35.32%, closing the week at ₦5.90.
- Red Star Express Plc rose by 23.99%, ending at ₦8.32.
- Omatek Ventures Plc increased by 20.00%, with a closing price of ₦0.78.
- Associated Bus Company Plc appreciated by 18.47%, finishing at ₦2.95.
- Northern Nigeria Flour Mills Plc went up by 17.02%, closing at ₦138.90.
Top 5 Losers
- Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc declined by 26.87%, ending the week at ₦5.58.
- Legend Internet Plc dropped by 18.95%, closing at ₦6.16.
- Nigerian Enamelware Plc fell by 18.77%, with a final price of ₦20.55.
- Industrial & Medical Gases Nigeria Plc lost 15.56%, ending at ₦33.65.
- Multiverse Mining & Exploration Plc also declined by 15.56%, closing at ₦7.60.
Duing the week, Standard Alliance Insurance Plc announced the change of its name to Fortis Global Insurance Plc. The new trading symbol for the company is FTGINSURE.
