(Greenwich Merchant Bank): The NGX-ASI and market capitalization lost 0.09% to settle at 52,161.24 points and N28.40 trillion respectively, at the end of today’s trading session.
The top losers were ACCESSCORP 3.32%, GTCO 2.44%, ZENITHBANK 2.05% and ROYALEX 3.33%.pp Conversely, Year-To-Date, the market has gained 1.78%.
Today, market sentiment was negative as the total volume and value traded fell by 13.88% and 12.04% to close at 447.37 million units and N5.24 billion respectively. Also, ACCESSCORP emerged as the most traded stock by volume and value.
The market breadth closed positive at 1.05x as a result of gains recorded in Twenty-One (21) stocks, while Twenty (20) stocks depreciated.
On the sectoral performance, the Banking (-1.35%), Consumer Goods (-0.10%) and Industrial (-0.01%) sectors recorded losses, while the Oil & Gas (+1.34%) and Insurance (+0.19%) sectors gained.
Fixed Income Market
The average system liquidity increased by 4.86% to close at N756.774 billion from its opening balance of N721.53 billion.
At the interbank market, both the Open Buy Back and Overnight rate closed flat at 11.00% and 11.38% respectively.
At the NTBills market, yields decreased by 44bps to close bullish at 7.09%.
Similarly at the Bond market, activities was marginally bullish as average yields declined by 2bps to close at 14.31%.
The Naira exchange rate, at the I&E window, appreciated by N0.29 to N462.73/USD from N463.25/USD.
