NNPC Ltd has announced that the Port Harcourt Refinery will be shutdown for a planned maintenance.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) made this known in a press release signed by Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer.
Olufemi Soneye stated that “this scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment will commence on May 24, 2025.” The company however did not disclose how long the shutdown will last.
“We are working closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure that the maintenance and assessment activities are carried out efficiently and transparently,” he went further to say.
Investogist reported the recommencement of operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery after years of underperformance and turnaround maintenance in December 2023.
Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited (PHRC) has an installed oil refining capacity of 210,000 Barrel Per Stream Day. It comprises of two refineries, the old refinery with a capacity of 60,000 bpsd, and the new refinery with installed capacity of 150,000 bspd. The old refinery with 60,000 bpsd capacity recommenced operations in 2023.
