The Nigerian Exchange Limited’s equities market snapped out of its three day losing streak, as it recorded modest gains at the end of trading on Thursday.
Having closed trading on Friday, 27th August 2021 at 39,485.65 points, the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) dropped to 39,326.67 point on Monday, then 39,219.61 points on Tuesday and 39184.18 points on Wednesday.
The ASI picked up 68.01 points on Thursday, a 0.17% increase from Wednesday’s closing position to close trading at 39,252.19 points.

The market capitalization appreciated by the same percentage points, adding N35.43 billion to Investor’s wealth to settle at N20.45 trillion.
Activity Level
The activity level improved on Thursday when compared to the trading activity recorded on Wednesday.
The volume of shares traded increased by 54.84% from 169.3 million traded on Wednesday to 262.1 million on Thursday.
The value of shares traded increased by 40.34%, from N1.42bn to N1.98bn.
Shares of ACCESS were the most traded by volume, with 51.07 million units of shares exchanging hands. Shares of TRANSCORP and HONYFLOUR were the second and third most traded shares by volume with 36.09 million and 18.63 million units of shares respectively.

Banking shares dominated the top traded stocks by value, with ACCESS, ZENITHBANK and GTCO in first, second and third positions respectively.
Shares of ACCESS worth N471.19 million were traded in 526 deals, while shares of ZENITHBANK and GTCO worth N329.09 million and N179.34 million respectively were traded in 280 and 228 deals.
