The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has detained Chidinma Agbazue for attempting to export 10.70kg of cannabis sativa to Doha, Qatar.
The 35-year-old suspect was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Thursday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Femi Babafemi, NDLEA director of media and advocacy, said 20 parcels of the illicit drugs were concealed in dried vegetables and Abacha (African salad).
Babafemi said Agbazue was intercepted during clearance of passengers at the screening point by NDLEA officers working in partnership with operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS).
He said preliminary investigations revealed that Agbazue was based in Qatar but returned to Nigeria in December for Christmas celebration.
She said preparatory to her return to Doha, she was lodged at Club Dice Hotel in Ikotun area of Lagos where the consignment was handed over to her for trafficking to the Arab country, according to the statement.
The agency said other arrests were made in Bayelsa, Ogun, Taraba, Abia and Ondo states during the month as its commands across the country intensified the war against drug abuse.
The agency said it also seized consignment hidden in noodle packs going to Bayelsa creeks, and razed over 3 tonnes of cannabis in Edo forests.
