The Lagos State Government has suspended the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) from all parks and garages in the state, a day after the suspension of the state Chairman MC Oluomo.
The suspension of NURTW from parks follows a leadership tussle in the union. The state government says it has been watching the event closely and has a duty to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the state. It added that the action is to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in all parks and garages in the state.
The Lagos State government said it will set up a committee to take immediate control of the parks and garages.
NURTW national leadership had asked MC Oluomo whose real name is Musiliu Akinsanya, the Lagos State Chairman of NURTW to step aside.
Following his sanction by the national body, Oluomo announced that the Lagos chapter was leaving the body and asked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to take over parks.
