The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state.

Gov. Uzodimma, who sought re-election as Governor won in all the 27 local government areas of the state, according to INEC.
64 years old Uzodimma was declared re-elected on Sunday morning at about 10am by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Abayomi Fashina, who was the state Returning Officer.
The APC candidate polled 540, 308 votes to defeat his closest rivals, PDP’s Anyanwu, who scored 71,503 votes and LP’s Achonu who got 64,081.
The result declared by INEC shows that Uzodimma defeated Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nneji Achonu of the Labour Party (LP), Jack Ogunewe of the Action Alliance (AA) and 14 other opponents.
Of the 701,338 total valid votes reported to have been cast, Hope Uzodimma scored 95.2%, while other candidates scored 4.8%.
According to INEC, the number of registered voters in the state for the poll was 2, 419,922 with 2,318,919 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected but a total number of 701,338 votes were validly recorded at the end of the poll.
Uzodimma was first declared as Imo State governor by the Supreme Court in January 2020 after the nullification of the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
