Scout Selection: Vardy picked over Lukaku
A home encounter with Manchester United gives Jamie Vardy (£10.5m) the chance to extend his run of returns in Fantasy Premier League.
The Leicester City forward has scored four goals in his last three appearances, totalling 27 points in that period.
Vardy has been among the most consistent players in Fantasy this term. He has blanked only twice in seven outings, while he has also delivered two double-figure hauls.
He looks poised for another successful Gameweek against a Man Utd side who are without a clean sheet in seven successive matches in all competitions.
Vardy is favoured to Romelu Lukaku (£11.7m) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.6m) in The Scout’s best XI for Gameweek 8 that lines up in a 3-4-3 formation, with Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) handed the armband and Son Heung-min (£10.1m) named vice-captain.
Aaron Ramsdale (ARS) £4.6m
Arsenal’s new No 1 can extend his strong run of form on Monday against Crystal Palace. Ramsdale has conceded only one goal in his four appearances this season, totalling 24 points.
Cesar Azpilicueta (CHE) £6.1m
Chelsea’s Spaniard is the second most-bought defender in Gameweek 8, earning 127,000+ new owners. Three assists and three clean sheets in seven outings highlight Azpilicueta’s all-round prospects for a trip to Brentford.
Aymeric Laporte (MCI) £5.5m
The Manchester City centre-back can bring in points at both ends of the pitch at home to Burnley. Laporte has one goal and four clean sheets in five appearances this season, while his 10 shots in the box rank second among defenders.
Lewis Dunk (BHA) £5.0m
Brighton & Hove Albion‘s centre-back visits a Norwich City side who have scored only two goals this season. Along with his clean-sheet potential, Dunk could also get on the scoresheet because of the Canaries’ weakness at defending set-pieces.
Mohamed Salah (LIV) £12.7m
Liverpool‘s Egyptian has stormed his way to the top of the player standings, averaging 10 points per match. Salah produced his career-high haul of 29 points against Watford in 2017/18 and will be the go-to captain for millions of managers in Gameweek 8.
Son Heung-min (TOT) £10.1m
The South Korean has been involved in 83 per cent of Tottenham Hotspur’s goals when selected this season. Son travels to Newcastle United on the back of three double-figure hauls in six appearances.
Jack Grealish (MCI) £7.9m
The Man City midfielder has two goals and two assists in his last four outings at the Etihad Stadium in all competitions. Grealish’s 18 chances created is a team-leading total for the champions.
Bukayo Saka (ARS) £6.3m
The Arsenal winger produced his season-high haul of 13 points in his last home outing. Saka’s nine shots in the box over the last four Gameweeks rank third among midfielders in Fantasy.
Jamie Vardy (LEI) £10.5m
Leicester’s striker is the second most-bought forward ahead of Gameweek 8, earning 150,000+ new owners.
Michail Antonio (WHU) £8.0m
West Ham United’s star man has averaged 8.2 points per match ahead of his trip to Everton. Antonio’s 27 shots have been bettered only by the 28 of Salah among all players in 2021/22.
Allan Saint-Maximin (NEW) £6.8m
Newcastle’s Frenchman has been among the most consistent players in Fantasy this term. Saint-Maximin has delivered attacking returns in five of his seven matches, including all three of his home appearances.
