Dubai International Airport (DXB), has seen numerous flight cancellations, delays, and diversions today the 28 of February 2026 following the United Arab Emirates’ temporary partial closure of its airspace.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced the measure as an “exceptional precautionary” step to ensure the safety of civilian flights, crews, passengers, and national territory amid escalating regional security developments.
The closure follows joint U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran earlier today, triggering Iranian retaliatory missile and drone attacks on targets in the Gulf, including areas in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait.
Explosions have been reported in Tehran and other Iranian cities, with multiple countries across the Middle East—including Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait—imposing full or partial airspace restrictions.
Dubai Airports confirmed that several flights at DXB and Al Maktoum International (DWC) have been canceled, delayed, or rerouted due to the restrictions. UAE carriers are heavily impacted:

Emirates has canceled services, particularly regional routes to Jordan, Lebanon, and other affected areas.
Flydubai and Air Arabia reported cancellations and rerouting, with some flights diverted back shortly after departure.
International airlines including Virgin Atlantic canceled London Heathrow-Dubai Lufthansa, Air Canada, Eurowings, Finnair, Swiss, and others have suspended flights to Dubai and other Gulf points, with some avoiding regional airspace entirel.
Airports remain open for ground operations and passenger services, but schedules are highly fluid.
