The collation of the February 25 election results in Rivers state has been adjourned by the state collation officer, Prof Charles Adias, over an alleged threat to his life by unnamed party supporters.
Adias, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otueke announced the adjournment on Tuesday morning while addressing journalists at the State Collation Centre in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
He said he won’t proceed with the collation until the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state addressed some of the issues those threatening him raised including that of faulty Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
The results from 21 local government areas have been collated. The remaining LGAs are those of Governor Nyesom Wike – Obio/Akpor LGA and his Deputy, Ipalibo Banigo – Degema LGA.
There have been reports of Rivers state presidential election results from several LGAs being manipulated to favour the All Progressives Congress (APC) while those of National Assembly were altered to favour the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
