The senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for Enugu East Senatorial zone, Mr. Oyibo Chukwu has been killed in Enugu State by gunmen along with five other people.
Oyibo, a lawyer was said to have been attacked while returning from a campaign trip in the Agbani area.

He was said to have been burnt inside his vehicle, and three persons were suspected to be with him in the vehicle but it was not yet known how many of the occupants were killed.
The incident which happened on Wednesday night was reported to have taken place at Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area.
The Governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Chijioke Edeoga confirmed the incident.
“It is true that our senatorial candidate for Enugu East senatorial district for Saturday’s election has been killed. They shot him and five others and set them ablaze.
“Our party members are being targeted for assassination by political parties that felt threatened by the rise of the Labour Party in the state and are afraid they may lose the Saturday’s election.”
At the time of this report, the Enugu State Police Command has not made an official comment or issued a statement about the incident.
Labour party campaigns and political activities had been attacked on several occasions in the past in Enugu State.
Investogist reported an incident on 4th September, 2022, at Agwu community, Agwu Local Government Area of Enugu state, where-in gunmen stormed the venue of a Labour Party meeting and started firing their weapons.
Prior to the attack in Agwu, some LP members were also attacked by gunmen in Nenwe, a community in Aninri Local Government Area of the state.
