Doyin Okupe has resigned at the Director-General of the Peter Obi presidential campaign council. He disclosed this in a letter posted on his Twitter handle @doyinokupe.
The former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan said that it was time to step aside, but reiterated that he was with Peter Obi and the Obidients and the Presidential Campaigns till God gives “us” victory.

The resignation of the DG who opted to step aside and called for appointment of a new DG came about because of a money laundering conviction on Monday.
A federal high court in Abuja had on Monday convicted the former Senior Special Assistant, SSA, on Media to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for breaching the money laundering act.
In his resignation letter addressed to Peter Obi, Doyin Okupe said he had invested too much in the Obi campaign to allow his personal travails become a source of distraction.
“You will recall that I briefed you yesterday about my personal travails in seeking justice and clearing my name using the Nigerian Legal System to pursue same.
“I have invested too much in your campaign to allow my personal travails to become a source of distraction,” Doyin Okupe wrote.

Peter Obi while reacting to the Okupe conviction on Monday at an interactive session with journalists in Uyo at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council Secretariat said that the ruling was not going to demoralize him.
He said that “…if they like, let them do anything about people who are around me. I will get there.”
