The FCT Police Command has reported the arrest of Shuaibu Yushau, who allegedly attempted suicide by climbing a radio mast on Monday in protest of the harsh economic conditions in the country.
According to a statement by the police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the command received a distress call from concerned citizens and quickly mobilized its personnel to the location to arrest Mr. Yushau.
The police were able to prevent Mr. Yushau from taking his own life after professional persuasion. He is currently in police custody and in stable condition.
Before climbing the mast, Mr. Shuaibu left a note on the ground with various demands, including the restoration of fuel subsidy and the declaration of a state of emergency in several northern states to address insecurity issues.
