Azman Air has received the approval of the Federal Government to commence evacuation “Nigerians stranded at Egyptian border.”
The airline disclosed this Monday night after the chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa said that Egypt had opened its border for Nigerian fleeing the war in Sudan.
“Azman Air has received the approval of the federal government to evacuate Nigerians stranded at the Egyptian border amid the Sudan crisis with the 409-seater Airbus A340-600,” Azman Air tweeted.
“Evacuation is expected to commence from Tuesday 2nd May as we await final clearance from Egypt to depart.”

More than 500 people have lost their in the war in Sudan with over 4,000 persons injured.
The FG said that evacuation Nigerians from Sudan to Egypt by 40 buses would cost $1.2 million.
The buses conveying Nigerian fleeing the war in Sudan arrived Egyptian Aswan border on April 28 but were denied entry along with other nationals who also left Sudan in light of the war.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NIDCOM), on Thursday said “over 7000 nationals, including Nigerians are not being allowed to cross the border into Egypt since their arrival late Thursday evening.”
The evacuation process is not void of controversy, as a group of Nigerians alleged discrimination, saying they were abandoned in Sudan due to their state of origin.
