United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities have reminded businesses of the June 30 deadline for private sector companies with at least 50 employees to meet their semi-annual Emiratisation target for skilled jobs.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) says it will start reviewing the compliance of affected companies in achieving the 1% semi-annual Emiratisation targets for skilled jobs from July 1, 2023.
Last year, employers were directed to ensure that Emiratis fill 2 per cent of roles by the end of 2022. The proportion will be subsequently increased by 1% every six months under the government’s Emiratisation drive.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation also reminded companies they faced half-yearly fines of Dh42,000 ($11,435) for every Emirati not hired.
