Newcastle United FC has qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League following the 0-0 draw with Leicester City FC at St. James’ Park.

The draw takes their tally for the season to 70 points after 37 games, making it impossible for Liverpool with 66 points from 37 games to overtake them. This will be Newcastle’s appearance on the European top stage since 2003.
Eddie Howe who became the Manager 18 months ago after the Saudi take over, with languishing in 19th position on the league table. He becomes the first Newcastle manager since Sir Bobby Robson to qualify for the Champions League.
Newcastle joins league champions Manchester City and Arsenal in the English contingent to the Champions League next season.
Manchester United can join the trio on Wednesday with a draw against Chelsea in the match at Old Trafford.
Newcastle have one final match to play against Chelsea, while Manchester United take on Fulham. The results from both games will determine who finishes third and fourth or whether the Red Devils or Liverpool join the Magpies if Manchester United lost to Chelsea.
