Chukwuemeka Igboanugo, a Boxer from Imo State at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba has died after suffering a knockout in a boxing match.
The Boxer was engaged in a fight with Anambra’s Prince Gaby Amgor in the 86kg category.

Delta state government on Monday confirmed the death of Imo State Athlete.
An Eye witness account as reported by The Independent, revealed that “The boxer received a punch in his chin and the referee had to stop the fight when he failed to recover.”
The Boxer was immediately taken out of the ring for medical treatment before he was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead, the report stated.
While confirming the death of the boxer, Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu said the cause of death has not been ascertained by the doctors.
According to Aniagwu, “You cannot say exactly what lead to the death until an autopsy is carried out and the report known. It is unfortunate that such happened to one of the participants” he said.
The mood at the camp of the Imo state contingent is said to surpressed.
