The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) announced the rescue of nine pregnant women from a baby factory in Abuja. Press Officer Mr. Vincent Adekoye stated that the facility, located in Ushafa, was raided following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
He said the victims were locked up in an apartment inside the estate by a yet-to-be-identified suspected trafficking agent after they were recruited through an online platform.
Additionally, NAPTIP Director-General Binta Adamu-Bello praised the judiciary for convicting Bishop Kenneth Duke, who abused a 12-year-old girl, the daughter of one of his church members.
She emphasized that the judgment serves as a warning to others and affirmed that NAPTIP will take action against anyone who violates its laws. She condemned the crime of rape, highlighting its lasting impact on victims and the need to protect children.
