A man whose wife reportedly tore his travel passport at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos says the incident was scripted.
He made this claim in a fresh video Wednesday night posted to an Instagram page with the name Jejola Family TV.
The man in the company of his children in the late night video said it was a “message of appeal to the public.”
According to him, the document that was torn by his wife at the airport was a fake and that what happened was a re-enactment of a real-life situation.
“What my wife tore is not passport. She never tore my passport, my passport is intact. This is someone’s story that we are passing to the world,” he added.
“Please, I’m begging everybody, this is not passport, my passport is intact. Nobody should drag this thing to the mud.
“We are sorry, we cannot defile the law of Nigeria, we are full bonafide Nigerian, we cannot go against the law by destroying the passport of Nigeria, it is not possible.”
He said immigration had seen his passport and confirmed that it was intact.
The NIS has yet to publicly react to this latest development.
Recall that in a viral video on social media last week, a female traveler purportedly destroyed her husband’s passport at the airport shortly after arriving from abroad.
The woman who strutted away defiantly with her children, was heard telling the transfixed husband to sleep there if he wish. She added, “this is Nigeria, this where you will be.”
The woman who latet explained her actions in another video said she has been through a lot in the marriage and that people should not judge her based the video with asking questions of what let to her actions. She noted that she has to stand up for herself
In its reaction, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) said the woman was identified and invited for further investigation, saying that her actions would have constituted a breach of the law, with corresponding penalties, if the allegations were substantiated.
